Valaam Brotherhood Chor
The Valaam Brotherhood Choir is the current artist name for the Monastic Choir of the Valaam Monastery. On their first album, The Northern Athos, released in 1999 by the Russian label Orthodox Music, they however called themselves the Valaam Brethren Choir. Additionally, there is a 5-man professional choir by the same name at Valaam Monastery's St Petersburg metochion (embassy church), whose productions are fundraisers for the Vaalam Monastery.
The Valaam Monastery, is a stauropegic Orthodox monastery, on the lake Ladoga island of Valaam, Republic of Karelia (a member state of the Russian Federation).
